Writing about every hotel that we stay in is not routine in this blog but I feel I have to write a post about our recent hotel stay. I have to say, most of the hotels that we have stayed in have been amazing but on our last holiday, a stay in Barcelo hotel was a different experience. I will tell you why checking in at Barcelo Castillo Royal Level, Fuerteventura was an experience in itself.
Make no mistake in comparing it to its sister hotel across the road (Barcelo Castillo Beach Resort) as Barcelo Castillo Royal Level (formerly Barcelo Castillo Club Premium) as the name suggests, really is on another level.
Arriving at the massive and airy lobby after a 10-minute car ride from the airport, we were whisked to a personalised premium check-in corner to the left of the lobby with a sofa to lounge on whilst being checked in by the lovely staff with a complimentary welcome drink of freshly squeezed orange juice on one hand. Check in took longer though compared to the non-premium side as this is personalised. I am not complaining as there is no time to fret or be stressed about it. We were on holiday after all. Besides, it could only be a good thing.
The lovely receptionist then walked with us all the way to the premium area of the hotel, along the palm tree lined paths and streets.
As we walked into the hallway of our suite, we were greeted by a beautiful scent wafting in the air. The receptionist gave us a little tour. The place is immaculate. It is so new and clean with that beautiful scent in every corner of the suite. Later on, we found out, there was a diffuser in one corner. Oh, how I wanted to take it home with me, that particular scent would have always reminded me of this wonderful holiday.
On the table were a complimentary fruit platter and a bottle of champagne. We were also told everything in the mini bar fridge were complimentary which included bottles of water, cola and chocolate bars. We were then showed the best bit in the suite.
The view from our balcony was like a dream. The beautiful sea and the inviting pool right before us. This was the view that I have been dreaming of in the days leading to this holiday. To see it right before my eyes was actually a dream come true, to say the least. I then imagined ourselves waking up to it each morning. From that moment on, I was fully in holiday mode.
Located in Caleta De Fuste, the immediate vicinity of the hotel is perfect as it is near the marina where there are a lot of water activities to enjoy, nice nearby restaurants, mostly with a beautiful view of the sea and a promenade which was great for biking.
Breakfast and dinner (we were on half board basis) were served at El Ancla Restaurant which is facing the harbour. You could not get a better location than this. The food in this restaurant was one of the highlights of our day. Remember that freshly squeezed orange juice at the beginning of this post? We have that every single morning with a machine that slices and squeezes oranges with a touch of a button. Freshly cooked eggs, pancakes, warm croissants and churros (yes, churros) are a regular for breakfast. For dinner, fresh tuna slices are cooked right before your eyes and ice cream on delicious cones for dessert are just a few of our favourites. All the food are consistently good.
Our eight-year-old daughter always looked forward to the turndown service in the evening as the staff leave chocolates on the bed. Good quality chocolates, at that.
Checking in at Barcelo Castillo Royal Level was the best decision on this holiday. The hotel is like a home away from home and I have not had that feeling before in any of the hotel we have stayed in the past. I could not fault this hotel. Great accommodation, wonderful and friendly staff, good entertainment on offer in the evenings and lovely food. We would definitely go back in a heartbeat.
